Facial Shape

Many women use facial shape to determine what haircut to have or how to apply make up. Indeed, facial shape is critical to allow Dr Rory to accurately assess you face in terms of suitability for treatments in order to optimize your features.

Facial shape can be oval, round, or square depending the prominence of the forehead, cheekbones or jaw respectively. In terms of facial length, shorter faces tend to be rounder and longer face tend to be more oval.

With reference to the jaw, if it is round, this correlates with a round face and a strong jawline especially in men correlates with a square face, which is a favourable masculine trait.

A pointy chin is associated with a heart shape face, which is the most favourable feminine facial shape.

As we age, and if we look at younger pictures of ourselves our facial shape changes. Generally speaking in youth we have a fuller triangular face and with age we loose volume and our face shape becomes an inverted triangle.

Facial shape and changes in facial shape can be treated surgically with face lifting techniques, buccal fat excision or chin implants. Non-surgically face shape can be treated with BTA, fat dissolving injections (Kybella, Belkyra) as well as Juvederm dermal fillers.

After a full face assessment, Dr Rory will advise what the most appropriate treatment approach is for your facial shape concerns.
