Condition

Vaginal Asymmetry or Excess Tissue

There is a vast spectrum of vaginal appearance within the population and as such there is no normal appearance.

The outer area of the vagina has two elements of extra tissue with a soft tissue hood that sits above the clitoris. The inner layer is called the labia minora and the outer is called the labia majora.

Patients often present with concerns over the appearance of these elements in terms of size or degress of asymmetry or pigmentation. This can cause concern relating to appearance in clothing, discomfort when exercising or when intimate.

Non-surgical approaches include the use of dermal fillers, such as Juvederm volift to fill these areas. Pigmentation can be treated with laser vaginal bleaching.

Surgical approaches utilize fat transfer to augment areas with fat taken from other areas of the body with bodyjet liposucton. Other concerns can be addressed with surgical labiaplasty in order to reduce or make the labia more symmetrical or to reduce the clitoral hood.

These procedures can often be performed in conjunction with treatments for vaginal laxity.
