Hand Injury Surgery

Assessment of hand injuries is crucial as so many important structures exist in the fingers as well as the hand that are vital for its highly specialized function.

These include tendons, nerves, joints, bone and the covering skin. All of these structures require precise repair to maximise your recovery.

Reconstruction and repair is often performed through zig zag incisions and sometime skin grafts are required.

This can be performed under local or general anaesthesia and with a tourniqet on the arm (to reduce blood flow in the hand) and once released a specialized dressing is applied to the hand.

Your recovery after a hand injury will also be dependent on your physiotherapy following the reconstructive surgery.
