Surgical Procedure

Skin Grafts

Skin grafts are sections of skin that are taken from one part of the body, removed from their blood supply and transferred to a new part of the body to reconstruct an area of missing skin.

The technique relies on the skin graft acquiring a new blood supply to survive.

Skin grafts vary in thickness and range from full thickness to split thickness grafts.

The technique is used in traumatic, hand and burn injuries and skin cancers as well as many other reconstructive surgeries.

Skin graft reconstruction is most often performed under local anaesthesia but a general anaesthesia may be required in larger cases.

The final cost is determined on a case by case basis dependent on complexity and the combination of any other additional procedures.

Combination surgeries will lower the price of individual surgeries if done together.
