Skin Cancer Removal

Skin cancers are surgically removed with a margin of normal skin to ensure complete removal and to reduce the chances of the cancer returning.

Most often, the area where the skin cancer is removed can be stitched directly to give a straight line scar. The orientation of this scar is determined by skin wrinkles in order to provide the most well hidden scar.

If the margins of the cancer look uncertain, the skin cancer is examined under the microscope to ensure complete removal prior to closure of the wound.

If the wounds cannot be stitched directly, options for wound closure include rearranging the skin (local flap) or using a skin graft. Dr Rory will advise you what the most appropriate reconstructive options are in your particular case.

Skin cancer removal and reconstruction is most often performed under local anaesthesia

The final cost is determined on a case by case basis dependent on complexity and the combination of any other additional procedures.

Combination surgeries will lower the price of individual surgeries if done together.
